Comparison is the thief of joy, as the quote goes, and the comparison trap is one of the many painful ways that perfectionism robs us of our happiness and hurts our wellbeing. The beautiful thing is it doesn’t have to be that way.
For many of us, this is waaaayyyy easier said than done – it’s something I personally struggle with constantly, as do most of the women I work with.
Healing from perfectionism is an ongoing process, a daily evolution, and isn’t something that will be solved in a blog post
But maybe this – this present moment, as you’re reading this – can be a moment in which you make space for admiring someone’s beauty without comparing yourself to that person. Maybe you can try it, just to see what it feels like.
What does it feel like? Does it feel good? Scary? Uncomfortable? Why does it feel the way it feels?
Keep noticing and keep asking these questions. You’re planting seeds that will grow.
